The Community Alliance for Stage and Theatre, better known as C.A.S.T., is back in action with its latest production, “Southern Fried Murder” beginning Feb. 16.

The play, written by Billy St. John and produced by Kevin Kincheloe, is about a wealthy Southern family, headed by matriarch Magnolia Capote, who has summoned her hilariously dysfunctional family to dinner in a fancy restaurant to discuss her will.

But when the matriarch is killed, all mayhem ensues and her possible heirs embark on a treasure hunt to interpret the encrypted will.

The roles spoof playwright Tennessee Williams’ heroines, Bette Davis in “Hush, Sweet Charlotte,” characters from “Tobacco Road,” Truman Capote and other denizens of the Deep South.

The play features C.A.S.T. performers Melody Pratt, Kymn Hargrave, Alan White, Caroline Clark, Jennie Brown, Korey Brown, Kelley Lively, Prissi Sullivan and Bruce Munro.

The performances are set for three nights at The Olive Tree Restaurant in downtown Villa Rica on Feb. 16, March 2 and March 16 at 7 p.m.

Another series of performances are set for March 9, March 23 and March 30 at The Olive Tree in downtown Hiram at 7 p.m.

Doors open at both locations at 6:30 p.m.

The cost is $36 per person, which includes a full-course dinner, beverage, dessert and gratuity and the play.
