McWilliams, a defensive end for the Knights, signed his letter-of-intent with Eastern Kentucky University. Calhoun, a left tackle, will play at Hutchinson Community College in Kansas.
A first-team all 6AAAAAA as a senior, McWilliams was the Knights’ best pass-rusher in 2012, leading the team with 11 quarterback sacks.
“Eastern Kentucky got a ‘heck of a player in Lorenzo,” said first-year Centennial football coach Jeff Carlberg. “He’s an extremely explosive player.”
Eastern Kentucky is a football subdivision school located in Richmond, Ky. The Colonels compete in the Ohio Valley Football Conference.
Calhoun, a first-team all-region selection as a junior and senior, is taking his talents to Hutchinson — a junior college powerhouse known as a pipeline to large Division-I programs.
Carlberg said that with two years of work at Hutchinson, Calhoun has all the makings of being a Division-I talent himself.
“All the Junior Colleges were coming out of the woodwork in the last couple of weeks for him because they know what type of player he can be. If things go well for Vincent in the next few years there is no reason he won’t be a big time player at a Division I school somewhere.”
Carlberg also said he expects four more Centennial football players to sign scholarships in the coming weeks.
