The Sandy Springs City Council unanimously approved implementation of the first phase of the city center plan at its meeting Tuesday night at City Hall.
The cost of the plan is estimated to be about $84.5 million, of which $25.6 million has already been allocated and is expected to be completed by 2018.
In addition, the council approved amendments to the fiscal 2013 budget. Among other amendments, the city approved the reallocation of $500,000 from the general fund balance to settle a lawsuit with Fulton County and moved about $3 million from the general fund balance to capital projects.
$1 million will be used to fund the new North Fulton Radio Intergovernmental Agreement, $500,000 will be used for the Abernathy Greenway Linear Park and $1.5 million will be used to fund city center plan implementation.
