Family Alliance of Paulding Inc. is set to host the event Feb. 9 from 6 to 11 p.m. at Hills Creek At Thousand Acre Farm, 1291 Braswell Road in Rockmart.
For eight years the alliance has hosted the dance with a different theme each year, said Linda Verscharen, executive director of the alliance.
“We have pretty much done a different city each year [as a theme],” she said.
This year’s theme of Love in the Country encourages attendees to dress in country attire. The event will offer food from the Briar Patch restaurant, have a DJ and will include line dancing, said Yolanda Newell, volunteer with the alliance. It also will feature a silent auction and raffle featuring items such as local arts, jewelry and two trips to help raise funds.
Family Alliance provides a variety of social services to Paulding Countians, ranging from counseling for drug addictions to assisting with abuse situations.
During the event a time will be scheduled for a testimonial from a survivor of drug addictions who will share why the work of the alliance is important.
Organizers moved the event to Hills Creek At Thousand Acre Farm to accommodate the expected crowd, Newell said. Last year’s event at Che’ne Rouge sold out so they had opted to change to a larger location. This year they are hoping to have around 250 attend, she said.
Tickets for the dance are $50 per person or $500 for a table, which seats 10.
“About 65 percent of the funds go back to the community,” Verscharen said.
The rest of the money will pay for the venue, food and entertainment, she said.
There are also different levels of sponsorships available. For donation and sponsorship information and for ticket purchase visit familyallianceofpaulding.org.
Sponsors include Briar Patch restaurant, Prestige Jewelers; Scott Vanek/Paul Callahan; Visiting Angels; SunTrust Bank, DC Bank, and Floor It!! For more information contact Verscharen at (678) 202-5777 ext. 100 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
