As good as Kylee Smith has been in her four years at Alpharetta High School, the 6AAAAAA Player of the Year may have saved her best for last.

The 6-foot guard scored 23 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in the Lady Raiders first round state playoff win over Duluth (69-53) last Wednesday and followed it up with a 25 point, 15 rebound performance against Central Gwinnett (a 57-40 win) in round two — vaulting Alpharetta into the Class AAAAAA quarterfinals for the first time in school history.

“Kylee has played outstanding in postseason play,” said Alpharetta head coach Michael House. “She is a player who elevates her performance above her competitors and is someone who loves the tough battle [of the postseason.]”

“Kylee is the type of player that understands that she must be at her best, when her best is needed most.”

Smith’s best has rivaled the top players in the state and across the country during her senior season.

She became the first player in Alpharetta history to score 2,000 career points in January, was named to the Atlanta Tipoff Club’s All-Metro First Team earlier this month and was a finalist for the presitgous McDonald’s All-American team.

For the year she is averaging 23.8 points, 8.1 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game.
