Voters say no to Sunday alcohol sales outside Paulding's cities

Paulding voters turned down Sunday alcohol sales outside the cities in Tuesday's special election.

Only 2 percent of registered voters said no to Sunday retail alcohol sales in unincorporated Paulding, 55 percent to 45 percent, according to the county Elections and Voter Registration Department.

A total of 941 voted no and 760 voted yes.

Hiram remains the only entity within Paulding County to have approved Sunday sales within its city limits.

Dallas City Council recently chose to allow a November vote on Sunday sales within Dallas' city limits.

I believe the county held a "secret" vote and none of the residents knew of the vote. This is underhanded and shady politics. This is tax revenue that is right at our fingertips in a time where every penny counts. If anyone quotes a "moral issue" - is a quack and mankind is responsible for their own morals and its called freewill. RE-VOTE!!

The problem with the turnout for this is that on any given weekday most registered voters in PC are in another county at work or trying to get home from work during voting hours. This issue should have been on the ballot in November when the majority of us found a time to vote in the presidential election. Most working folks in PC cannot afford the time off for a vote on an issue like this alone on a ballot. This issue was done this way to get the result it did in my opinion.

I find it very disturbing that such a lucrative and sensitiive vote was left in the hands of such a small percentage of registered Paulding voters. I am sure there were more voters that emerged to vote for President. I hope my Dallas compatriots are sober enough to vote in November for a winning way to keep taxes low.
