More early voting polls could be coming to north Fulton.

The mayors of Alpharetta, Roswell, Johns Creek, Milton, Mountain Park and Sandy Springs discussed increasing the region’s early voting locations at their monthly North Fulton Municipal Association meeting this morning.

Fulton County Board of Elections member Mary Norwood told the north Fulton mayors a great deal of residents who voted in the elections last November came from the city of Atlanta and south Fulton County.

“One of the reasons for that is the selection and location of early voting places,” she said.

The only early voting locations in north Fulton were the North Fulton Government Service Center in Sandy Springs and Ocee Library in Johns Creek, Norwood said. She asked the mayors to pick their top five locations and she would work on getting them established as early voting places.

Roswell Mayor Jere Wood and Alpharetta Mayor David Belle Isle suggested their respective city halls might make good locations.

The cost of operating new early voting polls did cause concern, and Norwood said she would look into how they could cut those costs.

Wood said, “Roswell’s position is whether Fulton County pays for it or not, Roswell’s willing to pay for it.”

Norwood also told the mayors the county’s board of elections is actively looking for its new executive director. While she is just 60 days into her position on the board, she said she was interviewing candidates on her first day.

She said the timeline of getting prepared for the November elections begins in April and an executive director is needed.
