When it comes to being a student-athlete, Dutchtown tennis standout Ian Alexander is the real deal in every sense of the word.

Insiders offer just as much praise for his on-court skills as his intangibles.

“He sets such a good example of the quiet, confident leader,” said Bulldogs coach Rabieh Hafza. “He cares about winning and has done so all season — an 8-1 record at No. 1 doubles with Jonathan Duong.”

Alexander’s contributions have helped Dutchtown get off to a 6-1 start in region play.

For the club’s elder statesman, shouldering the load — in his own way — is merely part of his job description.

“He leads by example and is not only a good athlete, he is also a very good student,” Hafza noted.

Look for Alexander to continue to try to cap off his prep career in style.

“It is nice to have team members that do not have to be reminded to do anything,” the coach added. “I think he is making the most of his senior year in regards to the tennis team.”
