In lacrosse, like most team sports, possession of the ball is a necessity to generating offense.

At Centennial this season, possession time has heavily favored the Knights thanks to Zach Levy and his dominance in the face-off circle.

“He is a huge part of what we do and why we always have so much possession time,” said Centennial lacrosse coach Bryan Wallace of Levy, who has won a mind-boggling 88 percent of his face-offs.

“That makes it easy to see why we’ve been able to win games this year. It’s like playing make-it take-it in basketball and we know we will always have a chance to score goals because of him.”

Levy’s play has helped Centennial to a record start this spring. The Knights are 10-0 through the season’s first half, ranked No. 1 in the Class AAAAAA power rankings and already locked up an Area 3AAAAAA title.

On top of his knack for winning face-offs, the sophomore midfielder has played well on each end of the lacrosse field according to Wallace — scooping up 82 ground balls and notching a number of key goals and assists in the Knights’ biggest games of the season.

“He is the ultimate team guy and does a great job of leading by example,” said the Centennial coach.

“As the season continues, his contributions on both ends of the field should allow us to play deep into the post-season.”
