Dunwoody tennis standout Caroline Melton has really been bringing her ‘A’ game.

The senior and No. 1 doubles partner Claire Gordon have gotten off to a sizzling 5-1 start — thanks in no small part to Melton’s formidable all-around game.

“Caroline has a great net game along with

a wicked return of serve,” said Lady Wildcats coach Caryn Gartner. “Her strokes are low and deep, which create havoc for her opponents.

“She also has an awesome passing shot that typically catches most [opposing players] off guard.”

Gartner has had a front row seat to Melton’s tennis maturation through the years.

“Caroline is fun to watch and hustles after

every ball,” Gartner added. “She prefers to stay in the backcourt — even though her volleys are fierce.

“I’ve seen her grow and mature into a serious doubles player with a variety of weapons.”

Melton, headed to the University of Georgia in the fall, is the consummate student-athlete.

Insiders say she’s just as much a star in the locker room and the classroom as she is on the court.

“Caroline loves to drill and work on her game,” Gartner said. “She knows her strengths and

weaknesses and is willing to put in the time.

“She was voted by her teammates as one of the captains … and she is supportive of them; she has great team spirit.”
