Alondra Magana makes the Forest Park Lady Panthers’ offense go.

“She is our play starter,” Forest Park girls’ soccer coach Kim Bird said. “If she doesn’t get the goal she usually sets it up. She is a playmaker when it comes to our offense — no question about it.”

The junior forward added another goal to her team-leading total in a 1-0 victory over Lovejoy last Friday.

“This has been the most intense game we’ve had all year,” Magana said.

While the contest against the Lady Wildcats may have been very intense, Magana said her most memorable game was against Morrow when she scored the final three goals, including one on a corner kick.

As far as improvements, Magana felt she grew the most when it came to communicating on the field.

“Before I was afraid to speak out and tell the team my thoughts,” she said. “Now, I’m more open. I’m always hollering out ‘stay here, go there.’”

“Alondra is very encouraging to the rest of the girls,” Bird said. “She is very patient with them as well even when they do something wrong.”

Off the field, Magana has a 3.8 grade-point average and an interest in working in the medical field after college.
