(UPDATED AT 4:40 P.M. THURSDAY WITH CORRECTED INFO ON PAUL'S REASON FOR LEAVING OFFICE IN 2009.)

In an email to the media Thursday, former District 3 Sandy Springs City Councilman Rusty Paul announced he will hold a press conference Monday at 10:30 a.m. at Morgan Falls Overlook Park in Sandy Springs to announce his plans for the 2013 citywide, nonpartisan election in November.

Also attending will be Mayor Eva Galambos and several council members, Paul wrote.

When asked by a reporter which office he would be running for, Paul declined to comment, saying he would provide that information at the press conference.

Paul was elected to the council in 2005, when Sandy Springs incorporated. He decided not to run for re-election four years later, citing a need to spend more time with his family before his children went off to college.

He also served on the city's charter commission after leaving the council.

A lobbyist, Paul is senior policy advisor with Arnall, Gold and Gregory, an Atlantic Station law firm, and owns his own marketing firm, iSquared Communications, which is affiliated with the law office.

Qualifying for this year's city elections is in August.

Sandy Springs' charter does not include term limits for elected officials, so Galambos and members of the council - Dianne Fries, Karen Meinzen McEnerny and Tibby DeJulio - who each have served two terms thus far, are allowed to run again.
