The Autobahn is an expressway in Germany. To my knowledge, there is no posted speed limit as motorists can drive as fast as they desire, at their own risk.

Stone Road is a literal Autobahn and is one of the most heavily traveled and dangerous thoroughfares in East Point. Many motorists are highly aggressive and pass others motorists at high rates of speed, in no-passing zones and take a chance of having head-on collisions.

What is needed, and has been needed for 30 years, is the completion of North Desert Drive. If the road were ever completed, traffic would be vented off Stone Road.

More than 20 years ago, I spearheaded a movement to have North Desert Drive completed, and would have required a joint effort between East Point and Atlanta. East Point was willing to cooperate with Atlanta but the city of Atlanta balked and would not cooperate.

It is strange that in the past 20 years, north Fulton, to my knowledge, has not had any problem acquiring access roads here in south Fulton to enhance the quality of life here.

When it comes to road projects, there seems to be disparity between north and south Fulton. In my opinion, there has been an apartheid policy in place leading to the enhancement of north Fulton and the deprivation of south Fulton.

In an unrelated matter and giving all due respect to columnist Dick Yarbrough, you were a hard-core opponent of the Charter School Amendment. How do you like your “crow,” with or without salt and pepper or marinated in vinegar?
