At PCED's April 8 meeting Dallas Mayor Boyd Austin presented the organization's board of directors with a $50,000 check for economic development services.
Austin said the city of Dallas supports PCED's efforts and appreciates the successful projects the organization has brought to both Dallas and the Paulding community.
"I believe it's critical that PCED remain an independent organization financially supported by the county, cities and chamber. Dallas' funding will ensure that PCED's organizational structure which works well remains in place.", Austin said.
PCED was established in 2011 as a public/private partnership between the Paulding County Board of Commissioners, city of Dallas, city of Hiram, Paulding Chamber of Commerce and Paulding County Industrial Building Authority to serve as a single point of contact for economic development. In early April funding commitments were secured from the Paulding County Board of Commissioners and Paulding Chamber of Commerce.
PCED Chairman Mark Haney said he greatly appreciated Dallas' funding commitment.
"In just two years PCED has made a tremendous impact on business activity in Paulding. From new international companies selecting Paulding for major facilities to securing new incentives like the oportunity zone, PCED is working hard to help shape a prosperous future for Paulding but we couldn't do it without the financial support and involvement of our local partners. We are very happy that Dallas has made this commitment."
