In a news release, the Whitefield Academy board of trustees Monday announced the appointment of Kevin Bracher, PhD, as headmaster of the Cobb County private school located near Vinings. Bracher had served as interim headmaster since January, when Headmaster John Lindsell resigned.

“We are honored to announce the selection of Bracher as the headmaster for Whitefield Academy,” said board Chairwoman Marsha Burke. “After a rigorous search in conjunction with the search firm, SIMA International, the board unanimously selected Kevin Bracher to lead Whitefield Academy as headmaster. Kevin Bracher is uniquely qualified for this role given his commitment to excellence in all facets of Christian education, his experience in the Whitefield community, and his track record as a collaborative leader.”

In the six years Bracher has served at Whitefield, his positions of increasing responsibility have included middle school principal, academic dean and most recently interim headmaster. Bracher, who holds an undergraduate degree from Vanderbilt University, as well as master’s and doctorate degrees from Georgia State University, established himself from his start on the campus as a strong leader who exemplifies Whitefield’s mission.

“Selecting a head of school is one of the most important duties of a trustee,” Burke said. “Kevin is an exceptional leader who will keep Whitefield true to its mission of bolstering Christian families in rearing young people who go on to college and life with a passion for learning, for others ahead of self and for the living and active Jesus. Kevin will do all this, and inspire us to do even more through his remarkable, Christ-centered leadership.”

In Bracher’s cover letter for the headmaster position, he wrote, “Next year will mark my 20th year in educational leadership. I can’t think of a better way to celebrate than by becoming the lead servant at Whitefield Academy at a time when Whitefield is on the verge of becoming an organization with greatness that endures.”

Said Burke, “On behalf of the full board, I want to extend our profound gratitude to the many Whitefield community members who offered input and wisdom to the search committee during this very important search process. Well over 100 members of our community participated in focus groups, search advisory groups and prayer meetings during the four month process. We are so delighted to greet Kevin, his wife, Becky, and their four children as the headmaster’s family, and continue to enjoy their fellowship as active members of our community.”
