With the recent donation of an 1840s lady’s carriage by Dr. and Mrs. Herb West, Roswell’s Bulloch Hall is more determined than ever to reconstruct the historic home’s vintage carriage house.

Proceeds from this year’s Magnolia Ball will enable that dream to come true.

“Please join us at this preservation event which will allow Friends of Bulloch Inc. to complete the fundraising for the 1839 Carriage House,” said Malon Mimms, a presenting sponsor for the 2013 ball.

The June 8 black tie affair will be at the Country Club of Roswell beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Guests may bid on silent auction items while sipping the event’s signature drink, The Buggy Whip. Later, guests will enjoy a sumptuous Southern dinner that begins with a black-eyed pea and heirloom tomato salad, corn bread muffins and biscuits with herb butter.

The entrée is strip steak, grilled shrimp and twice baked potatoes, ending with a trio of sweet Southern delights for dessert.

There will be dancing until midnight to the music of Grapevine.

The honoree for the 2013 Magnolia Ball is one of Bulloch’s favorite sons. Bob Hagan began his relationship with Bulloch Hall 28 years ago at the first Magnolia Ball, held in the Grand Ballroom at the Piedmont Driving Club.

Hagan attended ensuing balls, became a sponsor and finally chaired the event, first in 1991 and then five times thereafter.

He has also served as fundraising chair many times over the past 28 years.

With the funds raised, Friends of Bulloch has been able to complete reconstructions of the outbuildings on the property, with the exception of the carriage house.

Tickets for the 2013 Magnolia Ball are $150 each and sponsorships are available. For information, call Magnolia Ball Chair and Bulloch Hall Site Coordinator Pam Billingsley at (770) 992-1731 ext. 2.
