“We have had two October [festivals] the last two years … and we decided we would do one in June and another one in October,” said organizer Carol Anderson-Wood with the Alpharetta Business Association.
The association hosts the street festival off Milton Avenue, which has received positive response from the public. The summer festival will stay true to the essence of the past events, Anderson-Wood said. Beer, food and music is the formula for what is hoped to be a good night out on the town.
“We have a big stage and a band and a dance floor,” she said.
Glow, a local music group, will be the featured band of the evening.
“They play a wide variety of music,” Anderson-Wood said. “They’re a very entertaining band.”
Local eateries serving food at the festival include Smokejack BBQ, Olde Blind Dog, Seven Seas, Pure Taqueria, Brian’s Texas Hots and The Ridge Bistro.
Anderson-Wood said there will be about six varieties of beer available, as well as wine. She estimates a crowd of 1,500 to 2,000 for the debut June festival. About 2,000 attended last year’s event in October.
“We just want everybody to have a good time,” she said. “It has been a really fun event the last couple of events, and people just enjoyed the music and just being all together out in the street.”
Tickets are $10 and attendees can bring their own chairs. Festival goers also have the option to purchase a table of six for $100 or a table of eight for $130.
Wristbands will be given out to designate between those drinking alcohol and those who will just enjoy the other aspects of the festival. Backpacks and coolers will not be allowed at the event.
Anderson-Wood said Old Canton and Old Roswell streets will be shut down for the festival, but some retail stores will stay open so attendees can take advantage of shopping downtown.
