Whitefield athletic director Lynn Dupree was named the Region 6A Athletic Director of the Year by the Georgia Athletic Directors Association last Wednesday.

Dupree, who is in his second year at Whitefield, has served as an athletic director at various schools for 26 years.

He has coached a number of sports, including baseball, basketball, cross country, football, golf, soccer, softball, track and volleyball.

Whitefield boys’ lacrosse coach John Hunter was also honored after being selected as the Coach of the Year for all classifications by the Georgia Boys’ Lacrosse High School Coaches Council.

Hunter led Whitefield to a 15-4 record and a berth in the Class A-AAAAA state playoffs — where the Wolfpack lost in the first round — in the program’s third year.
