The organization is set to cue the lights on its Four Seasons: A Fashion Show and Networking Fundraiser at The Art Institute of Atlanta in Sandy Springs Tuesday, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Proceeds will go toward The Drake Closet, a boutique benefitting The Drake House.
“Our [stated] mission is to provide a forum for women in business to form relationships with their peers, provide an educational platform, give back to the community and be a source for professional women to be mentored,” said Women’s Business Network Chair Karen Trylovich. “Our community give back is The Drake House.”
That facility, located in Roswell, is a crisis residential assessment center for homeless women and children in the North Fulton area. The Drake House also offers immediate housing and programs designed to provide stability for the children and assist the family in working toward housing self-sufficiency.
Organizers expect Tuesday night’s event to help remedy and shine a spotlight on an issue that hits closer to home than many in these parts may realize.
“It will bring awareness, as well as raise money, to both [the Drake House and Drake Closet],” Trylovich said. “Almost fifty percent of the Drake House residents are from the Sandy Springs area, but overall awareness is lacking in Sandy Springs.”
That may soon change quite a bit.
The Women’s Business Network has established three temporary drop-off locations for clothing and accessories donation leading up to the fashion show.
“We have received an incredible amount of donations as a result,” said Trylovich. “Hopefully, the fashion show will incent people to keep giving.”
The night’s theme, the Four Seasons, will be represented through the fashions, food and décor showcased. The décor will actually be comprised of accessories from The Drake Closet, which attendees may purchase and take home with them.
Food stations set up by area eateries and live entertainment are also on the agenda.
