Members of the Paulding County Chamber of Commerce received a lesson in building their businesses at last week’s Georgia Power Luncheon for June.

B.B. Webb, an author, speaker, radio and television host and entrepreneur, was this month’s keynote speaker. Her theme was “find your twirl.”

Webb is the owner of the Carl House, a full service wedding venue in Auburn, Ga. She stressed the importance of both the employer and the employee using her personal experiences as a business owner.

Webb told both owners and workers, “You are powerful.” No matter which category someone falls in they have the power to either make or break a company, she said.

“Surround yourself with the right people,” Webb said. “Fire people who are not supporting you or your business.”

She dared attendees to slow down and to “observe beauty when it is out of context,” to dream and to make goals that they plan to finish.

Webb said to make sure there is a cash reserve. This will let businesses look into the future verses just seeing their budgets month to month.

She quoted her father’s saying, “Money isn’t everything, but it is right up there with oxygen.”

Throughout her speech she offered sound business advice, and left the attendees with a challenge, when they have “found their twirl,” to help someone else find theirs.
