For the fifth year in a row, the Friends of the Northeast/Spruill Oaks Library in Johns Creek is partnering with Target to present the “Target Family Read Night” series.

The program was made possible through a $2,000 grant from Target.

The first program in the series took place June 10 followed Monday with the series’ second program. The series will continue with “Tafari’s Folk Tales” Thursday at 6:30 p.m. and “Flamenco Dancers” on July 15 at 6:30 p.m.

At each Family Read Night, professional storytellers and literary artists will engage young readers with entertaining stories. Children and their families can learn to embrace reading in a fun learning process. Complimentary new books will be given to young readers ages 6 to 9.

The programs are open to all ages and are free of charge. Each year since 2008, this series has drawn capacity crowds.

The Target grant is part of the company’s ongoing efforts to strengthen families and communities throughout the country by donating to organizations that support education, the arts, social services and volunteerism. Target has donated $2,000 a year for the past five years for the Family Read Night series.

The library is at 9560 Spruill Road in Johns Creek and is part of the Atlanta-Fulton Public Library System. For information about the programs, call the library at (770) 360-8820.
