Gladys Knight’s Signature Chicken & Waffles opened its third location earlier this month at 3752 Cascade Road in the Cascade neighborhood in south Fulton.

It will have its grand opening Sept. 4.

Singer-songwriter Gladys Knight and her son Shanga Hankerson developed the concept melding breakfast favorites with savory selections in 1997 and own two locations in downtown Atlanta and Lithonia at the Mall at Stonecrest.

“I’m truly looking forward to bringing our newest location to the Cascade neighborhood,” Knight said in a statement Aug. 7. “Our goal is to continue providing the city with delicious soul food and friendly personal service. We hope guests will make Gladys Knight’s Signature Chicken & Waffles their own dining room as we encourage everyone to make themselves at home.”

The restaurant will provide specialty dishes on a menu with “Opening Acts” like Fried Green Tomatoes, Collard Green Spring Rolls, Asian Glazed Shrimp, “Headliners” like Midnight Train, Shrimp and Grits, Salmon Croquettes, “Grammy Winners” like Herb Buttered Steak, Brown Sugar Salmon, Veggie Soul and more.

Late night dining will also be available, as the restaurant will be open Monday through Thursday from 7 a.m. to midnight, Friday from 7 a.m. to 2:30 a.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2:30 a.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Knight said she got the inspiration for the poultry-meets-breakfast restaurant from the Wells Supper Club, which was established in the 1930s.

The Wells Supper Club was a Harlem eatery she and other famous musicians frequently visited when in New York.

The restaurant is committed to providing high-quality Southern cuisine with friendly prompt personal service in a family-oriented atmosphere.
