Julia Clendenin is a steady, consistent presence for the Riverwood volleyball team.

The senior defensive player comes through with solid performances in every match for the Raiders, who were 3-5 as of last Tuesday.

She played a key role for Riverwood in its victories over Etowah (25-12, 25-18) last Tuesday, Southeast Whitfield (25-16, 25-22) Aug. 15 and Kennesaw Mountain (25-17, 25-17) in its season opener Aug. 10.

“Every single time she is on the court, she is a presence on the court,” Raiders’ community coach Keisha Constant said. “She’s always talking — there is never a time when she is just standing there, not doing anything. She makes herself an asset to the team she steps on the court.”

Constant said Clendenin provides both solid all-around play and veteran leadership to the team.

“She’s everywhere on the court,” Constant said. “She’s digging balls. She’s getting balls you wouldn’t expect her to get. She’s … a really, really good leader on the court.”
