Last week I quoted Roswell resident Jennifer Liang from a post she made on her blog,, regarding the covered seating at Roswell’s Don White Park during food truck weekends there.

Liang said the shelter was rented out to a private party on a day she went to the park to buy lunch from one of the trucks. Because the weather was drizzly, she ate in her car.

But as the food trucks are there for the public, with city permission, she feels she should have had the option to use a covered picnic table. Liang questioned why the city would rent the pavilion out on those days, making it unavailable.

I passed her blog entry on to city officials. Just as this item was being printed in last week’s Neighbor, Roswell’s Assistant Director of Recreation and Parks sent me an email.

“Thank you for you sending this information regarding the food trucks at Don White Park,” Rodgers wrote. “We agree with the idea of not renting the shelter while the food trucks are at the park.

“We have taken steps to ensure that the picnic shelter at Don White Park remains open to the public during the food truck hours.”

A quick response from a department that always strives to take the public into consideration. Way to go, guys!

And Jennifer thanks for posting about this on your blog. Community-oriented journalism really is how things get done.
