In New Creation’s season opener against Loganville Christian on Aug. 23, Vaughn rushed for 275 yards and two touchdowns on 32 carries.
“He definitely put on a show but that is something he can do every week,” New Creation coach Jonathan Brown said. “We’re glad he is here.”
“My line was pulling through for me,” said Vaughn, who also plays cornerback.
Vaughn’s first score was on a 5-yard run and his second was a 75-yard sprint to the end zone.
“My line went through, made blocks and I just hit the hole and executed,” Vaughn said.
“He gives us an explosive player,” Brown said. “Every time he touches the ball he is a step away from scoring. “It’s great as a coach to have that kind of an athlete on the field. Even the other coaches know if you let him slip out he’s gone and you are not going to catch him. He makes calling plays a little bit easier.”
Vaughn, who attended Union Grove last year, said he would like to rush for more than 1,000 yards this season and help New Creation capture a state title. He also plans to play basketball and baseball this year.
