Expanding her existing health-related business to become what she says will be the first grocery and cafe in the area with absolutely no genetically modified ingredients, Gowland guarantees customers a worry-free experience.
“Everything will be from true organic companies with environmental initiatives,” she said. “All of our sandwich meat will be made in house, prepared meals can be special ordered for dietary conditions, and most of our products are local and seasonal.”
Her products will contain absolutely no genetically modified ingredients, Gowland said, all the way down the food chain to the supplemental feed for livestock.
The store at 555 South Atlanta Street in .Roswell will have its grand opening Sept. 14. Now called Roswell Farmers Market, it is in the same location as the Herbal Fusion Food Market that’s been operated by Gowland since 2007.
Customers can order weekly boxes of products that include meats, produce and dairy or stop by the store to see what’s on hand.
“Since we do not carry private label products because there is no way to know where they are manufactured and if they come from true eco-friendly companies or factory farms, there will be limited choices on household products,” Gowland said.
“However, we will have plenty of fresh produce, beef, chicken, pork, and lamb all fresh, all local.”
Products will be available in store and special orders can be placed for items such as primal cuts or whole cow.
The market also offers a café menu of sandwiches and such using Gowland’s own meats made fresh weekly and will include chicken breast, roast beef and ham.
“We have a full kitchen licensed by the agriculture department where we teach classes, prepare meals, sandwich meats, canning and freezing,” Gowland said.
Roswell Farmers Market is family owned by Gowland and her husband Win, both Roswell residents who are originally from east Cobb. Gowland said she grew up on a sustainable farm there, so “real food is a passion of mine.”
