The new coach and team have formed a formidable partnership as Fellowship Christian has started the 2013 campaign 2-0 with dominant victories over Lakeview Academy (41-14) and Towns County (49-14). “Our early success can be attributed to our players buying into our new system, great senior leadership and good assistant coaches,” Morrell stated.
In the win over Lakeview, senior Travis Kinney had three total touchdowns, two rushing, in the contest. Senior quarterback Hunter Bryant finished with 162 yards in the air and one touchdown pass.
Kinney continued his strong start to the season with two more rushing touchdowns in the Towns County triumph. Bryant and senior wide receiver Alex Edmonds connected on three touchdown passes in the second quarter to place the game out of reach.
“The defense has played well, the kicking game is sound and the offense has great balance,” Morrell said.
Fellowship Christian has already matched its win total from last season and still has two more road contests before play begins in the highly competitive Region 6B-A, which includes fellow north Fulton schools King’s Ridge, Mt. Pisgah and St. Francis.
“We need to remain healthy and continue to improve as the opponents in our remaining schedule get tougher,” Morrell stated. The Paladins return to action on Friday at Oglethorpe County in Lexington, Ga.
