A wide variety of “mechanized gems” will be on display in the main parking lot of Peachtree Presbyterian Church, 3434 Roswell Road, between 9 a.m. and 2:30 p.m., rain or shine. Admission is free.
“Peachtree Presbyterian Church has been one of the initial supporters of the Atlanta Police Foundation’s Life Insurance Fund. Our commitment to assisting in the procurement of life insurance policies for all members of the Atlanta Police Department is just one example of our congregation’s dedication towards making our community a safer place by helping to protect those who serve all of us who live in and around Atlanta,” said Vic Pentz, the church’s senior pastor.
To many car enthusiasts, the design concepts for several of their favorite classic automobiles were influenced by some source of divine inspiration, Pentz said.
“Over the years, places of worship have served as a common meeting place for diverse groups of differing interests and opinions,” event co-chairman Keith Williamson said. “We hope that the Cool Cars For Christ In Buckhead Car Show will continue to serve as an annual example of how our congregation welcomes everyone who wishes to share their love for God and, ironically, classic cars from days gone by. Although there are no direct biblical references to the birth of the Corvette, most fans would agree that it’s various renditions and high performance level is heavenly. Unless, of course, your preference leans more toward a 1936 Rolls Royce.”
Those wishing to display a car and be considered for one of Top 10 awards among four classifications (international, domestic stock, domestic modified/custom and street rods) will need to register their classic car (1992 or older) prior to or on the morning of the event. Pre-event registration can be submitted at a cost of $20 per entry by visiting the church’s website at www.peachtreepres.org/coolcarsforchrist. Appropriately aged vehicles may also be registered the morning of the event between 9 and 11 a.m. at a cost of $25 per car. Judging will be conducted between 11 and 1:30 p.m. The awards ceremony will begin at 2 p.m.
The day will also feature kids’ activities, food concessions, a 50/50 raffle and music as classic as the cars on display. In the case of undesirable weather, the car show will moved to the covered parking deck adjacent to The Lodge, a church-owned facility located directly across Roswell Road from the open-air parking lot serving as the initial display area.
