“We are very excited to have Citrix join us here in Milton,” said Bill O’Connor, Milton’s economic development manager. “It’s a wonderful, growing company. They’re a very high-tech firm.”
The company is expanding its former 22,000-square-foot office space in Alpharetta, said Robert Ruppel, regional director with Citrix.
About 125 employees work out of the new 32,000-square-foot space that will be expanded by 22,000 square feet for a total of 54,000 square feet, he said. The office’s main functions are support, customer service and sales and marketing.
While the old office was laid out traditionally with walls and doors keeping employees from interacting, Ruppel said the new office was designed to foster collaborative working.
The space includes glass walls, ample informal and formal meeting locations, and walls and table surfaces that double as whiteboards.
“The new workspace has energized everybody,” he said. “It’s been very, very positive for all of us.”
The future expansion will mean adding more jobs to the local economy.
Ruppel said the high supply of talented human capital is a benefit to being located in the Milton-Alpharetta region.
“We recruit locally all the time,” he said. “We’re anticipating growth up to 250 [employees] by 2015.”
O’Connor said the added jobs will help support the local business sector.
“Possibly even some employees will maybe move to Milton … and make use of the good housing opportunities that we have here,” he said.
