The Jaspers will be one of the featured duos when Season 23 premieres Sunday at 8 p.m. on CBS.
“We watched every season and finally got to a point where our children were old enough where we felt like we could finally try to be a part of this,” said Mrs. Jasper. “So we went for it.”
Being emergency medicine physicians in their own company, the Jaspers are no strangers to working together day and night.
“We tried to set a good example,” said Mrs. Jasper. “The benefit is that we have four children and we also work together in stressful situations. Unlike work where you’ll go to work for 12 hours and go home, this was a 24-hour a day experience. But we went in saying that our family, friends and children were going to watch this and we wanted to show our children the way we live our lives every day is the way we were going to play this race. And I think that we did that.”
Jasper added he is excited for everyone to see how they carried themselves and will be proud of the type of attitude they brought to the race.
“I think that’s going to be a positive and I’m hoping it will be a positive thing for those that view it as a more family-friendly show,” he said.
Throughout the show, the contestants visit several countries and have to complete certain tasks in order to move on to the next location. As a couple who enjoys traveling and participating in adventures, the Jaspers said the show still managed to exceed their expectations.
“Overall it is super amazing,” said Jasper. “It is far more difficult than what I expected and far more challenging. And it brought more things out than I even expected.”
Mrs. Jasper added unlike most reality shows, viewers will get to see the different places and adventures they were able to experience.
“The places we got to see, the people we got to meet — not only on the race but in various countries — this was so awesome to be able to go to these different places, meet these different people,” she said. “We feel so blessed to have had that opportunity.”
The couple also pride themselves on how they interacting with each other and handled themselves on the show, and encourages everyone to watch and see them go through the daily obstacles they faced.
