Richard Barron, director of registration and elections, said in a statement he encourages new county residents to register to vote and recommends all registered voters ensure their information on file with the department is up to date.
Voters can verify their information by logging into My Voter Page at http://mvp.sos.state.ga.us.
Residents can register or update voter information at one of three county election offices:
County government center, 130 Peachtree St. in downtown Atlanta
North Service Center Office, 7741 Roswell Road in Sandy Springs
South Service Center Office, 5600 Stonewall Tell Road in College Park
For residents who are reluctant to register as voters because they are concerned it increases their chances of being called for jury duty, Barron said he seeks to “dispel that myth.”
“If you obtain a driver’s license, your likelihood of being called for jury duty is at least the same as registering to vote,” he said. Early voting, also called casting an absentee ballot in person, begins Oct. 14 at 8:30 a.m. at the three above locations and Roswell City Hall, 38 Hill St.
It continues Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. through Nov. 1.
Saturday voting will be Oct. 26 from 9 a.m to 4 p.m. only at the following recreation centers:
Adamsville, 3201 MLK Drive in Atlanta
Peachtree Hills, 308 Peachtree Hills Ave. in Buckhead
Coan, 1530 Woodbine Ave. in Atlanta
From Oct. 28 through Nov. 1, early voting also will be conducted at the recreation centers plus Alpharetta City Hall, Two South Main St.
