When Ola’s offense starts to roll, opponents have no choice but to blame senior right side hitter Maggie Ivester.

“She is an offensive weapon in the back row as well as in the front row,” Ola volleyball coach Joe Caldwell said. “A lot of times she jump starts our offense and gets it going for us.”

Ivester’s leadership and play have been so impactful that the Lady Mustangs won 11 consecutive matches, which is their longest winning streak since the 2009 team won its first 20 matches and 14 more in a row.

“We have taken practice a lot more seriously than we have in the past, getting as much as we can out of it,” Caldwell said.

During that run, Ola also won contests against county rivals Union Grove and Locust Grove.

“We get really competitive towards them because we have lost to them in the past,” Ivester said. “We really have our hearts into those games and that is when we play our best.”

The Lady Mustangs will likely meet these teams again in the Henry County Championships this weekend.

“I’m expecting to win and we are all going to play our hardest out there,” Ivester said.

Ivester wants to continue playing in college and is interested in majoring in business or accounting.

“Maggie is a great student then a great athlete,” Caldwell said.
