Several witnesses came forward and identified 31-year-old Andrae Dinkens, of Fenwick Place in Sandy Springs, as the man they witnessed shooting Blue as he and his wife were leaving the bar in their car. According to witnesses, Blue and Dinkens had an altercation inside the bar about 15 minutes prior to the shooting. According to the police, as Blue and his wife were seated in the car as it backed out of a parking space, Dinkens approached from the driver’s side of the car and fired several shots into the car, striking Blue. Dinkens then fled on foot.
Dinkens is charged with felony murder, malice murder, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Dinkens was arrested Friday afternoon as he exited his car at his workplace on Piedmont Road in Buckhead. He was taken into custody without incident. A hearing date has not yet been set.
Since Sept. 26, when police released to the media a sketch of the suspect provided by a witness, a suspect fitting Dinkens' description had been sought.
