Camy Arnett co-stars in “Stand Your Ground,” premiering Thursday in Snellville.
South Fulton residents and religious leaders Cameron “Camy” Arnett and his wife B.J. Arnett are featured in “Stand Your Ground: A Cry for Justice,” premiering Thursday at the Carmike Cinema in Snellville.

The Triple Horse Studios film is based on a true story that took place in Newnan.

Arnett co-stars as Mitchell Kane, a defense attorney pleading for the life of accused murderer Jason Veitch.

Kane faces the formidable prosecuting attorney Evelyn Pitt, played by Sandra W. Van Natta.

Mrs. Arnett plays television reporter Deaundria Keana Kelly.

She also is the film’s wardrobe coordinator and key costumer, reprising her earlier career as wardrobe stylist for shows like “Roseanne.”

Mrs. Arnett was also a TV personality, interviewing Lena Horne, The Judds, Danny Glover, Marie Osmond, Patti Labelle, Mrs. Rosalyn Carter, Andrew Young and others.

The Arnetts also produced and starred in the inspirational television series “BYOBB.”

Walking the red carpet with them will be Jackie Carpenter, whose books “The Bridge: Between Cell Block A and a Miracle is Psalm 91” and “Georgia Justice” were the basis for the script.

They document a 10-month nightmare she and her family were thrust into when her son, Veitch, was arrested for felony murder after an accidental shooting.

The film recently took first place in the Alaska International Film Festival.

It is scheduled for regular release in select theaters beginning Jan. 17.
