The first baseman batted .583, including three doubles and four RBIs, through four games in the Region 5-AAAAA tournament, said Coach Janet Oglesby.
She helped the Lady Spartans to a 20-13 record this season and a spot in the Georgia High School Association Class AAAAA state playoffs.
The team beat North Paulding, Hiram, Woodland and Paulding County to finish as the No. 2 seed, behind No. 1 seed Allatoona.
The Lady Spartans were to host Pope from Region 7-AAAAA in the first round this week.
Priest, a left-hander, was a starter throughout her four years at South Paulding, Oglesby said.
“She has been a core part of our program for all four years and has been on three teams who have qualified for the state playoffs,” Oglesby said. “[She is] consistently one of our top hitters every year.”
Priest improved her defensive skills at first base and is becoming a more disciplined hitter, the coach said.
She plans to play in college but has not yet committed to play anywhere, Oglesby said.
