When Alpharetta needed a big play on defense in its game with North Forsyth, Jay Youngblood was there to make it.

The junior defensive back scored two touchdowns, one on a 20-yard fumble return and the other on a 23-yard interception return, to help lead the Raiders to a 45-6 victory over their Region 6AAAAAA rival Oct. 11.

It was yet another strong performance for Youngblood, who had 15 solo tackles, eight assisted tackles, a half tackle for loss and a half sack going into last Friday’s game with Chattahoochee.

With his outstanding play on defense, Youngblood has helped lead Alpharetta to a 5-2 overall record and a perfect 4-0 mark in 6AAAAAA, putting the Raiders atop the region standings going into the final weeks of the regular season.

“Jay Youngblood is an outstanding athlete who is capable of the explosive play,” Alpharetta coach Jason Dukes said. “He’s a great teammate and great for you to have in the locker room. He has a great work ethic, attitude and approach to the game.”
