The Sandy Springs Police Department has one man in custody after he attempted to run down an officer with a stolen car just before 7 p.m. Monday in the area of 5600 Roswell Road, Capt. Steve Rose, a department spokesman, said in an email to the media.

Crime suppression team members attempted to arrest the suspect in a stolen car when he fled, striking at least two police vehicles and almost striking an officer. The officer fired his weapon at the oncoming car.

A white male who was later determined to be the suspect was treated at Emory St. Joseph’s Hospital in Sandy Springs for a gunshot wound to his leg. His injuries are non-life-threatening and he will remain in custody. His name is being withheld at this time. No other injuries were reported.
