“It’s a big stepping stone for the brand here in Georgia,” Attard said.
He and Laskaris have opened 20 stores in metro Atlanta and are the largest franchisees in the area, contributing to a growth boom for the company over the last five years. Dunkin’ Donuts has just about doubled its store presence in the metro area since 2008, said public relations and marketing coordinator Becca McWaters.
Attard said the visibility, the density and the population around the newest store at 6020 Atlanta Highway makes it a good location.
“There is a large population of people who have moved from the northern states and are familiar with the Dunkin’ brand,” he said.
Dunkin’ Donuts was first developed and is headquartered in Massachusetts though there are now more than 10,500 stores in 31 countries.
Prior to moving to the Atlanta market, Attard and Laskaris ran Dunkin’ Donuts stores in south Florida. Attard said they started in this area with two stores in Marietta and one in Hiram.
“We’re learning what the consumer needs here,” he said.
Ease of access and drive thru windows are important in this market because traffic is an issue for many, he said.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new Alpharetta store was held Saturday. Attard and Laskaris are in the process of opening three more stores. By the end of the year, there should be two openings in Cumming and Dawsonville, and a Buckhead store is scheduled to open in early 2014, Attard said.
Dunkin’ Donuts fans in north Fulton can also find the franchise at 3630 Old Milton Pkwy. in Alpharetta and in Roswell at 11706 Alpharetta Hwy., 775 Holcomb Bridge Road, 1590 Holcomb Bridge Road and 550 W. Crossville Road.
