Even though Conde only rushed for 74 yards, he managed to reach the end zone four times on the ground and one time through the air for a school record five touchdowns in one game.
“I just saw the end zone every time and ran,” said Conde, whose team cruised to a 44-27 victory.
Also a linebacker and a safety, Conde currently has a total of 11 touchdowns (nine rushing, two receiving), 57 tackles and two interceptions.
“When I’m running the ball, I like making people miss and running them over--it feels good,” Conde said.
After football season, Conde plans to transition from making tackles to grappling with opponents in his weight class on the wrestling mat, where he wrestled at 152 pounds last year.
“Wrestling is all about commitment,” Conde said. “You have to put everything into it especially if you are cutting weight because if you don’t make that weight you let the whole team down and yourself.”
Once wrestling is done, athletics could just become a recreational activity for Conde, who is going to Georgia Tech to pursue a degree in aerospace engineering.
“I may walk on but I’m going to school for academics because I know it’s a for sure thing,” said Conde, who has a 4.0 GPA.
