Voting began at 7 a.m. today in DeKalb County and according to Maxine Daniels, director of elections, the turn-out has been “fairly light.”

“We’ve received the most voters in Dunwoody so far with about 500 ballots cast as of 10:00 a.m.,” she said.

Daniels said Chamblee had the second highest amount of voters thus far with about 200 people at the polls.

“We’ve had a lot of calls from people today wondering about the unincorporated Fulton area, however only the city precincts are voting today,” she said.

During early voting, which began Oct. 14, Daniels said the county only received about 500 votes with most of those being sent in by mail.

Cyril Mungal and Patricia Wheeler are on the ballot for mayor in Stone Mountain while Avondale Estates is holding elections for city commissioner.

City council positions are on the ballot in Chamblee, Decatur, Doraville, Dunwoody and Stone Mountain.

Voting will continue until 7 p.m. tonight.
