Echols drove in the team’s first two runs as Eagle’s Landing Christian posted a 3-1 victory over Prince Avenue Christian for the Class A (Private) softball championship last Saturday.
“Brooke is probably as good a pure softball player that we have on the team,” ELCA softball coach Doug Campbell said. “As a pure hitter and knowing all aspects of the game, she does a great job at it. During the tournament, she was very clutch and came through in some very tight situations against everybody she faced.”
“We worked hard for it this year,” Echols said.
To help keep the Lady Chargers perfect in the tournament, Echols scored the tying run against Prince Avenue in the first meeting to force extra innings en route to a 6-4 victory. Echols also added two more home runs to her season total while in Columbus.
“She’s got good bat speed and attacks the ball really well,” Campbell said. “She’s a pure hitter and that is why she is able to get some power on the ball.”
Now, Echols, who also plays for the Atlanta Vipers, will try to help the basketball team be a success as well.
