The inaugural Taste of Paulding is set for today from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at the Dallas Theater.
Paulding-based Camo Property Restoration is sponsoring the event, which organizer Andy Turner said he hoped would be a “fun night out” of free live entertainment and showcase for the variety of food options available in Paulding.
“It was my desire to bring the restaurants together,” he said. “We’re hoping we pack out the theater and have people standing in line outside.”
Turner also organized an event featuring “Friday the 13th” movie actor Kane Hodder at Folklore haunted house in 2011. However, he has brought together a wide variety of entertainers for today’s show.
They will include TV and voice actor Jeremy Miller, who will serve as master of ceremonies. Miller is best known for his roles as little brother Ben Seaver on the 1980s sitcom “Growing Pains” and voicing Linus in two “Peanuts” TV specials.
Others scheduled to perform include actor/comedian Ricky Muse Sr., Dan Glazer of the web TV show “Comics on Parole,” local magician Justin Longshore, singer Kristin Tinsley and the Herschel Jones Middle School chorus.
Participating restaurants will include Cuban Delights, Happy Hawg BBQ, Heaven Scent Cupcakes Dallas, La Val’s Cuisine & Seafood, A Taste of Cindy’s home cooking, Captain Eddies, Dallas Seafood Co., Audrey’s Country Cooking and The Olive Tree in Hiram. Additional restaurants will be announced on Camo’s Facebook page before the event, Turner said.
Taste of Paulding is set to include free admission and free samples from the eateries. However, organizers are asking attendees to bring cans of “any staple food item,” such as vegetables, to donate to the Paulding County Helping Hands food pantry. Those wanting to donate directly to Helping Hands can do so by calling (770) 443-1230.
Paula Doyle, owner of Heaven Scent Cupcakes, said the event is a chance to let the public see and taste the quality of baked goods Heaven Scent offers, and the kind of businesses operating in Dallas’ historic downtown area.
“It’s a part of downtown Dallas, and that’s where we are,” she said.
Doyle said she plans to bring 10 to 12 varieties of her cupcakes to the event for the public to taste.
The Dallas Theater is at 208 Main St.
