“This will be a night to remember for the arts here in Douglas County as we celebrate and acknowledge the wonderful, visionary leadership and great accomplishments of our executive director, Laura Lieberman,” said chairman Gregory Williams.
The gala is scheduled for Nov. 23 and will mark the first time the new Downtown Douglasville Convention Center on Church Street will host the event.
According to Lieberman, the gala festivities will include a buffet catered by Carol Parks Catering with live music during dinner and afterward for dancing.
To further enhance the entertainment and ambiance of the event, the gala also will feature a strolling magician, a silent and live auction to bid for vacation getaways and artistic creations of local artists, plus a special photo booth to capture the fun.
There will also be a cash bar and free champagne for toasts.
According to the organization’s treasurer, Marcita Scharnhorst, this is one of the three largest fund-raising events of the Cultural Arts Council. The others are the Taste of Douglasville and the Chili Cook-Off.
Williams said the council is expecting to sell out the event and suggested that “art patrons make their reservations for tickets and tables now.”
Lieberman said the Douglasville-Douglas County Arts Council is one of the top-ranked small arts councils in Georgia.
Last year, more than 40,000 people, including almost 8,000 students, participated in arts council programming activities, she said.
Proceeds from the program this gala benefit support programs and projects sponsored by the Cultural Arts of Douglasville and Douglas County throughout the year,” Lieberman said.
