Rick’s versatility and her willingness to assume whatever role the team needed her was a key factor in Blessed Trinity’s return trip to the Class AAA state volleyball championship match.
“Over the course of the year, she’s primarily a setter for us,” Blessed Trinity coach Paul Stevens said. “But we also asked her to assume a hitting role and she did that without batting an eyelid and did very well at it.”
The junior led the team in assists with 893 and was second in aces (72), third in kills (252) and digs (279) and fifth in blocks (30).
Rick had 7 kills, 2 aces, 1 block, 5 digs and 23 assists in Blessed Trinity’s 3-1 loss to St. Pius X in the AAA title match Nov. 2 and had 6 kills, 1 ace, 1 block, 13 digs and 26 assists in the Titans’ 3-1 win over Woodward in the AAA semifinals Oct. 20.
A three-year varsity starter, Rick also plays on the club level for A5 Volleyball.
