“Tae had an awesome game and is a fine young man,” East Paulding head coach Chuck Goddard said. “We played our best offensive game of the year.”
Ray also returned a punt for a touchdown but it was called back due to a Raiders’ penalty.
“I was able to help our team,” Ray said. “The coaches told us before the game that this senior group could be the first to make the playoffs four years in a row. I wanted to be a part of that.”
The junior also plays on the boys’ basketball team and runs track, usually in the 100- and 200-meter distances.
“I wasn’t going to participate in track but my mother showed me that NFL running back Adrian Peterson trains in the sport and it would help build up my speed,” Ray said. “Playing multiple sports has helped me improve on the football field.”
Ray plans to become a business major in college.
