North Fulton resident Doug Kaye, president of Alpharetta-based company LB Marketing, was sitting in traffic a year ago when he came up with an idea to brighten up the roadways during the holiday season.

“Next to me [in traffic] were three SUVs with antlers on them — the non-lit variety,” he said. “I was looking around and everything was decorated in the area, and I’m sitting in traffic and people were getting a little antsy and beeping [their horns] and I thought we should put lights on [the antlers]. It would be a great holiday decoration and would probably bring a smile to people’s faces.”

Kaye’s idea came to realization with WOW Antlers. The new product, which hit stores earlier this month is the first holiday antlers for vehicles and bicycles that are lit with LED lights, he said.

“A lot of our [company’s] background is in flashlights,” Kaye said. “We manufacture very high-end flashlights, so we have an expertise in LED lighting. That’s what made it easy for us to get involved in this antler project.”

WOW Antlers, which retail for less than $20, can be found at AutoZone and Pep Boys locations. Next year, Kaye hopes to expand the product to other stores like Walmart, Macy’s and Kohl’s.

“We think that Christmas 2014 should be much larger,” he said.

He also has plans to expand the product line.

“Next season, we’re going to do probably more lighted Christmas items for cars because there’s really nothing on the market,” Kaye said. “We’re doing an LED wreath that you could put on the front of your car and some LED-lighted items for your windows — cute little ornamental items that light up.”

Those who purchase the WOW Antlers should have no problems transforming their car or bike into one of Santa’s helpers. The antlers are easy to install, like attaching college football flags to a vehicle, he said.

Kaye added, “They run on two batteries. They are a very soft plush material. They are 100 percent waterproof. They’re super durable.”

With just a week in stores, he said he has received positive response from buyers — many of whom are mothers or husbands buying the antlers for their wives.

“It just brings a smile to people’s faces when they see it,” Kaye said. “It’s kind of a head turner.”
