With more than three-quarters of Arbor Place Mall merchants having been open since 8 last night and the remaining stores having opened at midnight, merchants were bracing to see another wave of shoppers tonight.

Their expectations seem to be realized, especially looking at the Arbor Place Mall parking lot.

Mall security personnel reported that at 4:45 p.m., a little more than five hours before the mall officially closes at 10, the mall parking lot was 95 percent full.

Arbor Place Mall General Manager Bill Ball said with the extra hours the mall is open, this Black Friday is looking to be a great one for the mall.

“We are looking for an increase in Christmas shopping sales from last year and that is important, not only for the final quarter this year for our merchants but the first quarter next year,” he said.
