Clay Pfohl has made a big contribution for Holy Innocents’ in its drive to the Class A private school state football playoffs.

The 5-foot-11, 175-pound running back came up with his two best performances of the season in the Golden Bears’ regular-season finale and first-round state playoff game, both against Landmark Christian.

Pfohl rushed for 135 yards on 13 carries and scored on a 44-yard run to lead Holy Innocents’ to a 29-28 victory over Landmark in the final regular season contest Nov. 1.

He proceeded to come up with another big game against Landmark in their first-round Class A private school state contest Nov. 15, gaining 121 yards and scoring touchdowns on runs of 30 and 35 yards in the Golden Bears’ 27-17 win.

“He’s hit a couple of big runs for us and he’s capable of making a big play whenever we needed it,” Holy Innocents’ coach Ryan Livezey said. “He’s obviously an explosive runner and he can break through the line of scrimmage. Not many people are going to be able to catch him.”
