to All-6AAAAAA football team
A number of local football standouts were among the players who were selected to the All-Region 6AAAAAA team, which was released Monday.
Johns Creek’s Chase Solomon was named the 6AAAAAA offensive player of the year, while Alpharetta’s Bryce Gauss was selected as the region’s defensive player of the year.
First team offensive selections were Chattahoochee’s Avery Ward, Colin Lisa (both wide receivers) and Chase Nelson (running back), Alpharetta wide receivers Andre Harton and Daniel Clements and quarterback Austin King and Centennial offensive linemen Chris Conway and Nick Krauter and athlete Christian Robinson.
First team defensive selections were Alpharetta’s Chase Stratton and Jay Youngbood (both defensive backs) and Andrew Butcher (defensive lineman), Chattahoochee defensive lineman Nick Williams, Centennial linebacker Alex Estes and Johns Creek linebacker Turner Fortin.
Second team offensive selections were Alpharetta’s Zach Mikos and Chris Wagner (both offensive linemen), Rustin Suter (wide receiver) and Lem Cobb (running back), Chattahoochee’s Zach Kladis (offensive lineman), and Taz Wilson (quarterback) and Centennial wide receiver Caden Herring.
Second team defensive selections were Chattahoochee’s Josh Weisberg (linebacker) and Malik Stephens (defensive back), Centennial’s Jacob Dahm (defensive lineman) and Stefan Young (defensive back) and Alpharetta linebacker Jalin Johnson.
First team specialists were Chattahoochee’s Adam Abdellaoui (kicker) and Montel Austin (returner).
Centennial kicker Devin O’Neil was chosen as a second team specialist.
Honorable mention choices were Alpharetta’s Miles Smith, Deandre Waitkins, James Marbaugh, Austin Hoffman and Khari Cobbs, Chattahoochee’s Trey Hillman, Kieron Ashley, Perry Benton, Anthony Alanis, Blake Hundley and Sean Hoffman, Johns Creek’s Kyle Varnell, Devon Howard and Matt Seigman and Centennial’s Chris Calhoun, Aaron Turk, Patrick Risse, Tyler Carey, Kenyon Russell and Matt Harries.
Local standouts named to All-Metro hoops team
A number of local standouts were selected to the Atlanta Tipoff Club All-Metro boys’ and girls’ basketball teams, which were released last Thursday.
Milton’s Shawn O’Connell and Mount Pisgah Christian’s Devin Peterson were named to the boys’ team, while Roswell’s Andreona Keys was chosen for the girls’ squad.
Area runners named to ATC All-Metro team
Several local cross country standouts were named to the Atlanta Track Club’s All-Metro, which was announced at a banquet at Westminster last week.
Blessed Trinity’s Anna Gandolfo, Fellowship Christian’s Emma Grace Hurley and Northview’s Lindsay Billings were named to the girls’ team, while Blessed Trinity’s Matt Munns was chosen for the boys’ squad.
Blessed Trinity coaches Ken Haughey and Kelly Innis and Northview coach Mike Morris were chosen as All-Metro coaches for the girls’ team.
