Pedestrian killed on I-285 Saturday morning

The Sandy Springs Police and Fire departments and the Georgia Department of Transportation’s Hero unit were on the scene of a pedestrian fatality on Interstate 285 west at New Northside Drive in Sandy Springs Saturday at about 4:30 a.m., Capt. Steve Rose, a police spokesman, said in an email to the media Saturday morning.

From what officers have determined at the scene, a white male exited a car driving westbound and was struck by another vehicle. He was dead at the scene. Three lanes of I-285 were closed while the investigation took place. The identity of the victim was being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

Traffic on I-285 west was affected Saturday morning while the fatality was investigated.
